The Kings Award for Voluntary Service

South Wye Development Trust at The Kindle Centre is very excited and honoured to receive The King’s Award for Voluntary Service. Our wonderful team of volunteers always go that extra mile and are the power behind our Community driven Health and Wellbeing hub, The Kindle Centre.  November 14th 2023 was a very emotional day and to be one of the first to receive The King’s Award is very special. #kavs2023

About the Award

The King’s Award for Voluntary Service is the highest award given to local volunteer groups across the UK to recognise the outstanding work done in their own communities

It was created in 2002 to celebrate the anniversary of Queen Elizabeth’s coronation. The award is equivalent to an MBE and is managed by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport. Any volunteer group that provides a social, economic or environmental service to the local community can be nominated for the award. Each group is assessed on the leadership and drive shown by the volunteers, the benefit it brings to the local community and its standing within that community.
