We would like to welcome The Talk Club to the Kindle Centre.
Talk Club is a Male Mental Fitness Movement.
It’s a talking and listening club for men.
It’s a support network for ways to keep mentally fit.
It’s a community of men looking after each other.
It’s here to remind all men that they are not alone, that other men feel exactly the same way they do, and if we share our feelings we can become mentally strong.
Together we can change the way we look after our mental health and end suicide.
SO WHAT HAPPENS IN A TALK CLUB?
There are no therapists, no couches and no judgement - just regular men sitting in a private and safe space, listening and talking.
We start with how with each man feels out of 10 and sharing why.
It’s a beautifully simple medicine that we rarely give ourselves, the ability to share how we really feel.
HOW ARE YOU? OUT OF 10? Let’s Talk Club about it.
Talk Club meetings are based around 4 simple questions:
1. HOW ARE YOU? OUT OF 10?
1 is low. 10 The best day of your life. You say your number and try and explain why.
2. WHAT ARE YOU HAPPY ABOUT?
What moments from the last week are you really grateful for?
3. WHAT’S YOUR PLANS FOR MENTAL FITNESS THIS WEEK?
Exercise? Relaxation? A lunch time walk? Saying it out loud means you’re more likely to do it.
4. HOW ARE YOU FEELING NOW, OUT OF 10?
Check out numbers help you see that by letting stuff and supporting others there can be a lifting in mood. That’s it.
IN A NUTSHELL
On average, it lasts 2 hours. Ideally 6 - 8 men to a talk. We sit in a circle, it’s confidential and positive. A Talk Club Ball is passed around, so whoever has the ball is talking, everyone else is listening.
It might take a few meetings for it to start to work. But you don’t get fit by going to the gym once. And you don’t have to wait until you’re going through a disaster to join Talk Club, It is a community of men that are changing the way men talk and deal with what is happening as it happens.
