Picnic Box Project UPDATE

Following a conversation with the Hereford Food bank and takling to our local community, the South Wye Development Trust applied for funding from The Herefordshire Community Foundation Covid 19 Emergency fund.

We wanted to run a Picnic box project from late July, August and September.

The idea was to supply a picnic parcel to help out vulnerable families throughout the school summer holidays, in consultation with local schools and the Hereford Food Bank. The SWDT has a very good relationship with the community and we have lots of volunteers willing to help out.

Thankfully we were awarded the grant meaning that we could go ahead with the project. The first Picnic box was collected on Friday 24th July by a lovely family with twins. Lots of picnic  boxes later we gave away the 550th on Friday 28th August 2020.

In addition to The Herefordshire Community Foundation, we would like to say a

BIG THANK YOU to:

Here are some of the comments that we received.

The feedback has been overwhelming

"The generosity of this programme is incredible and it make me feel so much better knowing my daughter will have a decent meal and enjoy the outdoors at the same time. Thank you so much, I can't tell you how much I appreciate it."

" This project will certainly support us as I was furloughed with a decrease in income resulting in my partner working overtime. we really appreciate the opportunity to get out with the children and make some memories."

" I will be honest; my mental health is at a low at the moment. having these picnic boxes from you have  meant that I don't have to think about what to cook and I have been able to have something yummy and nutritious myself. You'll never know how much it meant to me. XX"
